Motivation Behind Our Food Assistance Activities
Background to Our Food Assistance Activities
Japan currently generates approximately 4.64 million tones of food loss and wastes each year. This is equivalent to around 37 kg of food discarded per person annually.
At the same time, Japan's relative poverty rate stands at 15.4%, meaning that approximately one in six people faces financial hardship. The child poverty rate is also 11.5%, making this a social issue that is by no means someone else’s problem.
As a company engaged in the import, export, and distribution of food, we believe we are committed to addressing this serious imbalance between food wastes and food insecurity.
With the hope of contribut tions to solutions to these challenges, we are actively engaged in a range of food assistance initiatives.
Food Donations to Second Harvest Japan
Since 2008, we have been donating food products to a food bank organization “Second harvest Japan”.
Our donations primarily consist of food items that are perfectly safe and of good quality but have sustained damage to their outer boxes or packaging during import or transport, as well as items that are still safe to eat but are nearing their expiration dates and are therefore difficult to sell.
Over the years, we have donated a wide variety of foods for everyday use, including olive oil, baby purées, and muesli.
These products are distributed to children's homes, elderly care facilities, women's shelters, and households facing financial hardship, and others in need of food assistance.
*Second Harvest Japan is a non-profit organization (NPO) that provides food assistance services throughout Japan.

Support for Children's Cafeterias
We support “Kodomo Shokudo” (children's cafeterias), community-based initiatives that provide free or low-cost meals to local children.
By donating food products from our range, we hope to support the healthy growth and development of children while contributing to strengthening connections within local communities.
We believe that food has the power to bring smiles to children's faces.
Driven by this belief, we continue to support Kodomo Shokudo.
